The Buffet (again)

I have been using the same buffet "after" photo for what feels like forever. This wouldn't be a bad thing if my after photo was actually an after.

So to prove I do actually have candles in my candleholders, here you go:

  3. I saw your before and after projects on DIY showoff and love them! Awesome job! You know your stuff when it comes to painting furniture so I wanted to ask you a question. I'm planning to paint my light oak stained bedroom furniture white/offwhite and can't decide on the exact color. I don't want stark white, but I don't want "beige" either. All my woodwork is white and my walls are "Pale Silk" by Porter Paint. (think light yellow). Any suggestions in what color I should use on the furniture? Thank you!

  4. Steph – I would recommend going to a paint store and getting as many white/off white paint swatches as you can.

Then go home and start comparing the swatches in your bedroom (always judge paint in the room you are doing it in). Do this is the morning light, the afternoon and once it gets dark out. Doing this will you see what the true color is.

From there, you'll be able to start ruling out shades – whether it's because it's too white or the off-white has too much orange, etc., in it.

The white color I use (for my bathroom cabinets, furniture flips, doors and trim) is Ralph Lauren's Frost at Home Depot. Unfortunately, HD will soon stop selling Ralph Lauren paint because Martha Stewart is moving on in. But they will still mix it at the store.

Sorry, for the rambling. I hope that helps.
