A little bit of everything

And let the randomness begin!

1. The trim in the dining room and living room is now done. I am slowly getting somewhere – although no more progress on the doors has been made.

2. If you were wondering where the old rug in the living room went – it's now in the family room. So the set up is how it was in house #1.

3. Where'd I get my zebra rug? I got it on eBay for $110 from bidonrugs. Not too shabby at all, plus it was free shipping. This is the second rug I have gotten on eBay, and I've had a fabulous experience with both vendors.

5. Brent has finally agreed the carpet in the office needs to go!!! This is huge and awesome.

A lot of zebra

Working with zebra print overwhelms me – I love it, and yet I'm terrified of it.

I wanted to step outside of my safe, little design box, and do something bold and daring. And well, a huge, zebra print rug in my modern-glam living room definitely accomplishes that goal.

I'm happy with the new look, but I'll be honest, it's going to take awhile to get used to without me thinking "wow, that's a lot of zebra" every time I walk into the room. Plus, I think once I get some black and white pillows for the chairs and my painting is done, some of the pressure will be off of the rug.

"Sarah's House"

Does anyone else watch "Sarah's House?" I just stumbled upon this HGTV show several weeks ago, but I am already in love.

It's about designer Sarah Richardson, who buys a total fixer upper, and renovates it one room at a time.

She is incredible. Here's are a few of my favorites:

I want this laundry room!

We have a floater

It's morning and I'm tired, so yes, that's the best I could do I this entry's title.

After much floating shelf debate, I ended up going with the shelves at Lowes. I wanted a thick shelf for 2 reasons – I wanted the shelf to stand out and I wanted to put heavy things on it without worrying about them crashing to the ground. And for $80 plus tax, I think my goal has been accomplished.

My shelf accessories aren't finalized yet, but that's what I had around the house – so that's how it will be for now.

In other living room news – the rug should be arriving within the next several days. I am so excited. This room is finally coming together, and I am loving it.

Going green

Well, more like expanding my green-status in the family room. In the past month, I have bought 3 green picture frames.

Four years ago when I first deemed green to be my family room color of choice, it was rather impossible finding green picture frames. So now when I find especially awesome ones, I cannot pass them up.


I got the frame in back at Target on sale for $2.38. The front two frames I got today at HomeGoods for $14 total.

Operation white update

I thought I was making amazing progress in the door and trim department – but that was until I made a list of what I’ve done and what I have left. My goal was to get all trim and doors done by the end of March, but after looking at my list, I’m not quite sure how realistic that is.
