The Upstairs – Chapter 7 (the office is done!)

My office is done!

I spent more than I wanted to ($226.92 instead of $150), but when I set my stingy budget, buying a new chair wasn't on my radar. So with that in mind, I actually think I rocked my budget.

And, moving on to the good stuff – the photos. :)

Before
Because of the room switcheroo, I have 2 before photos.

Here is the room the office got moved too:

Here was what the original office looked like:

  7. The room would look much better if you pulled in the yellow/green color from the painting, otherwise the painting doesn't make sense in the space as a whole.

  8. LOVE LOVE LOVE that makeover! The red painting that you re-did really makes the room! I want one.

*sidenote* i have that same tall black skinny dresser. I Bought it white and painted it black and changed the hardware!**

  9. Ashley, I love the make over. The walls are so nice. I really like the picture you did and the colors of the room. The red just pops. Now I really like the westie's items and picture..I have a westie and a scottie....
Thanks for showing us and have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Love it Ashley...it looks amazing and I think the painting looks just fine.I don't know any rule that states your artwork can only include the colors elsewhere in the room and no other colors.I say leave it alone and ignore the nasty comments of others.

  11. Thanks everyone!

Lindsey – The mirror is from HomeGoods. I've had it for awhile (it's actually the mirror I had in the living room at first), but I still see similar ones there.

LG – That seems to be the cheap side dresser everyone has! It's amazing what a change of hardware can do.

Jolyn – I am obsessed with Scotties. The original plan was for Brent and me to get a Westie and Scottie as well, but then Chip came into rescue and we fell in love.

Susan – As usual, thanks for the love. :) The funny thing is, I bought that painting 3 years ago when the office was a goldish color. It was definitely a terrible color, but look how far the office has come:

  12. Anonymous – Thank you for your criticism. While I'm no longer completely in love with this painting, art is expensive and I'm on a budget – so I am determined to let it be. If this painting lacked red all together then it would be another story. But since there are more red and browns than any other color – it works for me.

  13. wow, it turned out fantastic! I love all the red accents, and I especially love that you recycled the old painting and simply did a switcharoo with the colors - such a genius idea! the clean lines and pops of print compliment each other perfectly. great job!

  16. Ashley,
What colors are the stripes in this room? thinking these 2 colors might work in my laundry room re-do that I started last night (the trim of course..haha). Thank you! NG
