Just Paint It Challenge

You know that project involving paint you’ve been putting off? Whether it’s been on hold because of laziness or sheer terror – it doesn’t matter – it’s times to get it done.

So, I have a proposal (yes, it’s so romantic of me). Paint the thing you’ve been putting off – whether it’s trim, a piece of furniture, a fireplace, a room, a floor, cabinets, doors, spray painting some accessories – it doesn’t matter.

I love a good challenge, so I am excited to announce my first Decorating Obsessed challenge.

The concept is simple – you and I will take the plunge together in painting that thing that scares us the most. Then, on Monday, April 19th – we will have a McLinky-posting extravaganza.

So, what do I fear the most? My fireplace. Yes, after some talk and much debate, that mofo is going white. If you want to liberate your fireplace as well, awesome. If not, that’s cool too.

So seriously guys, who is with me?

Edit: If you have a private blog or don't have a blog – you can send me photos and a description – and I will post it for you.

  1. Count me in! I have an old bed that needs to be painted and put together for my daughter's room. I now have a good reason to do it! Aside from the fact that she needs a place to sleep. :)

  2. I want to join in! I have to figure out how, since my current blog is private. Hmmmm....

This will be my first attempt at anything like this. I will tackle cabinets in our bathrooms. eek!

  3. Valerie – We can figure something out – even if you just send me your photos and I post them.

Also, I saw your comment on my buffet post. I got the candleholder from Crate & Barrel, but Z Gallerie has a cheaper knockoff of it.

  5. Count me in, too. I'm painting the entire interior of the house - and then some. A coffee table, end table, desk, file cabinet, wooden bowls, quite possibly my fireplace mantle (or at least antiquing it) and lord knows what else. I'm scerd. A lot.

  7. Oh this is a good idea...I would love to FINALLY get my dresser painted (which looks almost identical to your buffet...which was my inspiration!). Now that the weather is getting nicer, I don't have an excuse anymore! (I've been putting it off since we don't have a garage or basement and I will have to paint outside)

  11. Ashley,
So excited you are painting your brick fireplace. I painted over my stone fireplace & love it & you are going to love yours too. I need to paint my porch but maybe I'll be able to start my diningroom by 4.19 instead. Great idea for a party & can't wait to see the fireplace. NG

  13. I just finished my painting my bedroom- the first time I've ever painted or lived without all white walls. It was scary committing to a color but the results look amazing.
