Motivation

What gets me motivated to work on the house? Parties.

Lucky for me Brent's 30th is this year. That sort of party will hopefully bring me a lot of motivation. His birthday isn't until August, but planning has already begun.

I want to throw a beer-tasting party for him. I'm still trying to figure out all the logistics, because I've never been to a beer-tasting party let alone hosted one. But I think the plan would be for everyone to bring a chilled 6-pack of either an ale, stout, lager or light beer. Then different areas of the house would be dedicated to that type of beer. And of course there will be notepads at each station, so if you find a beer you like, you can write it down (because let's face it, you probably won't remember much after a night dedicated to beer).

Having 7 1/2 months to plan a party like this is a rather dangerous thing for me. The graphic designer in me is already mentally designing save the dates, invitations and any other paper product.

I promised Brent I wouldn't throw him a surprise party – I never promised him he wouldn't get a party...and that I might go into party-planning-obsession mode.

  1. Get different cheeses (i.e., aged cheddars) and sides like olives, gershwin pickles, cocktail weenies, etc. that compliment the different beers. It would provide food and still support the theme idea. Sounds like it will be fun!
