May is always my favorite month as a book lover, because so many great ones always come out. Three out of five of the pre-orders I got for the year came out ("Dead in the Family," "My Fair Lazy" and "Spirit Bound") – so it was a very exciting time for me.
On another note…
I had no idea “The Princess Diaries” was originally a book series. I was a big fan of the movies and enjoy Meg Cabot, so I decided to give them a go. So far they are super cute, and I’m looking forward to all 10 of them. ☺
Favorite book of the month:
“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Steig Larsson
One word – amazing. I am so excited to dive into the 2 other books in this series. (Just a warning – the first 50 pages or so are kind of blah…but it gets so much better).

Biggest disappointment: “Beautiful Creatures” by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t. I just found it on the boring side, and I lacked attachment to the characters. I realize there was a love story somewhere in this book, but I did not feel the love whatsoever.
I am STILL working on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo... and have been since last August. I don't know it's because I don't under foreign government or I'm just lazy, cause I'm struggling to get through it. I have heard it's an awesome book overall though!

ReplyDeleteMandee – Don't give up. I know the beginning deals with a lot of financial boringness, but it gets better. I think once Lisbeth Salander gets involved with the book, it starts picking up.

i wish someone would have told me about girl with the dragon tattoo...twice this week i was told about needing to get thru the first 50 pages. i had no idea, and returned it to the library. i was on a really long waiting list, so i know there's no getting it back now. oh well.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, we have SUCH similar taste in books! I just put Beautiful Creatures on hold at the library along with the new Women's Murder Club book (I am like 88th on the wait list though). Do you have a long commute or something--I can't get through that many audio books in one month.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte – No long commute for me, but I am lucky enough to be able to listen to them at work. On top of that, whenever I paint – I will also listen them.
