Today, I designed an invitation I never thought I'd ever create for a client – a baby shower/30th birthday party. So booze and babies (yep, totally spaghetti and meatballs).

I definitely think I made it work though:

Clarification
I AM NOT PREGNANT. This is an invitation I did for a friend who is hosting a baby shower. I know Brent is getting ready to have a 30th birthday party, which probably helped some of the confusion. And, well, since the girl's name is Ashley also, that didn't help either. But no announcement from me. Sorry, for any confusion. :)

Brent's birthday present

Brent and I have always been terrible about presents. After a present is bought, it's an accomplishment if we wait 3 hours before handing the present off in joyful excitement. So when Brent's birthday present arrived earlier than expected, I knew I was doomed. (I lasted 36 minutes).

But it was totally worth it. We now have bar stools.


The bar stools are from Ikea. My awesome friend Kari from Foreclosure 2 Fabulous picked them up and shipped them to me.

Drink!

Our current coasters for the new family room coffee table for been random postcards we've received in the mail. I figured it was definitely time for an upgrade.

I had no idea how many coaster selections there were out there! But I finally settled on these stainless steel ones from CB2.

Fabric has been found!

And go figure, it's not any that I posted on Friday. I really liked the fabrics I posted, but I wasn't in love with any of them. And this girl needed love.

Front door facelift

Meet my embarrassingly dated front door:


Between the rust-red color and the brass hardware, this door was just begging for a makeover. Unfortunately, I'm cheap and $150 on new hardware was out of the question. Fortunately, spray technology is rather amazing...and cheap. So with that, and painting the door a dark gray to go with my shutters, my door got a facelift on the cheap.


Not bad for $10 and change, huh?

To achieve this look, I used RustOleum's Metallic Satin Nickel spray paint, and then I did 2 coats of Krylon's Make It Last Clear Sealer.

The great fabric debate

Now that Brent and I have finally upgraded to a queen-size bed in the guest bedroom, I have the opportunity to do a project that’s been on my wish list for quite some time – a fabric headboard. I love the look of these headboards, and I cannot wait to have the headboard in the guest bedroom take center stage.

The only issue is that I’m fabric indecisive.

With all my other fabric choices, I just knew. And I think that’s the hard part. There are so many directions this bedroom could go – I can’t seem to be able to edit myself.

Here’s a reminder photo of the guest bedroom:
The only thing in this picture guaranteed a home back in the guest bedroom is the West Elm pin-tuck bedding, which is a pale, icy blue color. Everything else is basically stuff from college that I have no problems altering or saying goodbye to. And that includes saying goodbye to the paint color.

My chair is here!

...well, my chair arrived several days ago – but I've been having some issues with Snapfish. (Today, I will be moving on and trying out Picasa).

Anyway, my chair arrived and it looks amazing. It was totally worth the money getting it reupholstered.
